Owner David Renaker-Jansen brings his heritage from Florence's Reminiscent Herb Farm and training under touring band chef Bruce French (The Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones) to this Pike Street spot opened in December 2023. The menu centers on house-smoked meats prepared in a smoker behind the deli—especially the acclaimed "Red Leg" smoked drumsticks and hand-cut fries doused in signature "Red Bird style" sauce—alongside burgers, wings, and sandwiches all featuring specialty house-made sauces. Named for Renaker-Jansen's University of Louisville graduate grandfathers, the cardinal-logoed deli (sporting a mohawk inspired by ska label Trojan Records) delivers a cozy, kitchen-party vibe with serious flavor.
