In January 2000, a few Loveland locals saw the need for a family-friendly establishment and purchased one of the town's oldest buildings in the Historic District, adjacent to the Little Miami Scenic Bike Trail. Named for the area's first settler, Lt. Colonel Thomas Paxton (who ate Christmas dinner at Valley Forge with George Washington), the restaurant serves traditional bar favorites—burgers, wings, paninis—alongside an excellent breakfast menu with standout omelets. Part-owner Ralph Dunnigan, now semi-retired, has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charities through the restaurant, earning him the Colonel Paxton Ranger award for distinguished community service. Partner Kevin Egan oversees operations, including sister restaurant Ramsey's Trailside next door.
