Family institution since 1968 when Bob and Judy Beck opened as the last Hitching Post franchise operators before going independent. Now operated by sons Robert, Brian, and Kevin Beck along with numerous grandchildren. Famous for fried chicken cooked in lard—regulars call it "world's best." Full menu of classic American comfort food includes Texas burgers, breakfast platters, and homemade cream and fruit pies baked daily. Survived Coney Island's closure, the I-275 bypass, and eight-foot flooding in 1997.
