Hickory Bar-B-Q

A Kiss family institution since 1962, this cozy steakhouse near the University of Dayton specializes in BBQ ribs, steaks, and chops. Joe and Irene Kiss became sole owners in 1989, renaming it from "The Old Hickory Bar-B-Q." The restaurant remains family-run, with son-in-law Gary Fisher managing since 1995 and multiple generations working the floor. The signature house BBQ sauce and salad dressing have remained unchanged for decades. A compact, vintage dining room maintains its 1970s character.
