Hairless Hare Brewery

Our Story

Founded in 2013 by Matt Harris (Butler Twp.) and Mike Legg (Medway) after working together for 15 years in machining-related manufacturing. Harris had been homebrewing for years before pitching the idea. The name? 'Hairless' was his older brother's nickname in high school—he had short hair in the 1980s when everyone else had ponytails, and combined with their last name, it stuck. In 2019 they expanded into the adjacent space, completing the bigger tap room in summer 2020. The barn wood on the walls was donated by the Hertlein Family, whose farm has been a Vandalia staple since the early 1900s. Oak planks for the bar and handrails came from the Trick Family, another local farming family. Also home to Blackbird Meadery for meads and ciders. Known for their sours, smoked wings with Chocolate Habanero sauce, and craft pizzas like the Brewhouse Rancher. Family-friendly with giant Jenga and a large outdoor patio added in 2021.
