Housed in the former Clifton Branch Library that served the neighborhood for 60 years, this upscale-casual gastropub opened just after Thanksgiving 2018 by Dave and Claudia Taylor, who also own Ludlow Garage across the street. The scratch kitchen focuses on American comfort food with high-end flourishes—think hand-cut peppery fries, solid burgers, duck confit pappardelle, and seared scallops. Cocktails carry literary names honoring the building's past, and novels line the bar shelves. The crowning touch is Clifton's first rooftop terrace, offering sweeping views of the Gaslight District below. A perfect pre-show dinner spot before concerts across the street.
