Official Curated Review
Glad it's there. Not a place we go out of our way for, but one we're happy to return to when we're in the area. Solid, dependable, and worth stopping into without hesitation if you're nearby.
Garzelli’s Pub & Pizza has one of those layouts that quietly works in its favor. If you're near Erlanger, give this place a few minutes of your time. The front feels like a classic family pizza joint, relaxed and familiar, while the back opens up into a full-on sports bar with TVs everywhere and just enough energy to make big games feel like events. We’re firmly a back-of-the-house crew.
The food is better than most people expect, especially for a neighborhood pub. The pizzas and calzones consistently hit the mark, and while the grinders are solid, the calzones are the real standout to us. The Mega Meat is a commitment in the best way, and the Greek is already on our short list for next time. This is comfort food done right, not reinvented, just executed well.
Appetizers are where Garzelli’s shows some personality. The wings are tasty and dependable, though not something we'd cross town for. The jalapeño poppers with plum sauce, on the other hand, are a sleeper hit, and the breaded mushrooms are an easy add-on when you want something shareable that won’t disappoint. Our bartender, Jimmy, suggested the jalapeño mac & cheese bites and he wasn't wrong. Very tasty (even better than the poppers).
Pizza-wise, the Garzelli’s Grande and the Hawaiian BBQ both do exactly what they’re supposed to do. Familiar flavors, well-balanced, and satisfying without trying too hard.
Service deserves a nod. There’s a noticeable rhythm here, with bartenders and servers making frequent drive-bys just to check in. Attentive without hovering. We sat at the bar this time, and Jimmy was terrific. Great conversation, genuinely upbeat, and always on top of keeping plates cleared and glasses full. He's willing to share his opinion on what he likes to order, so just ask.
We’ve done March Madness here before, and it’s a blast for both atmosphere and food. Garzelli’s isn’t chasing trends, and that’s the appeal. If you’re in the area, it’s absolutely worth grabbing a meal. Reliable, welcoming, and exactly what a neighborhood pub should be.
"If it's not better than a chain, it doesn't deserve to be on wellfd."
