Frida's Churros

Frida's Bar - Hey Martin!

Even Frida's Bathroom is Cool

Arroz Con Pollo

Eugene AllenFrida 602 is a tequila and mezcal bar in Covington's historic Mainstrasse Village serving vibrant Latin street cuisine, fresh corn tortilla tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and bowls with flavors like al pastor, barbacoa, and mezcal-glazed chicken. An extensive agave spirits selection, signature Frida margaritas, and creative dishes like smoked cauliflower tacos and churros round out a menu built for sharing. Named for Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, the restaurant reflects the passion of co-owner Emily Wolff, who along with husband Paul Weckman opened Otto's in MainStrasse at age 22 in 2003 and never left the neighborhood, eventually adding Larry's Dive Bar, The Standard, Mama's on Main, and Frida 602 to create a walkable ecosystem of distinctly different spots that somehow all feel like the same community. The Kahlo influence is everywhere inside Frida, from the bold pink walls and eclectic art to a bathroom wallpapered with a Frida Vogue cover that might be the most Instagram-worthy in Northern Kentucky.
Official Curated Review
Solid choice. Make the effort to get here. These are your reliable go-to spots, good food, good vibes, no regrets. Not a special-occasion destination, but consistently worth showing up for. The bread and butter of great local dining.
We didn't plan on walking into Frida 602. We'd just demolished pizza and calzones next door at Mac's and had no business eating anything else. But the energy pulling through the door at 6:00 on a Friday was hard to walk past — packed house, loud in the right way, and two open seats at the end of the bar like the universe was daring us.
Martin was behind the bar and immediately made it feel like we were regulars. Walked us through samples of their frozen drinks without us even asking. Every one landed — bright, balanced, well-made. The ginger version wasn't my thing, but I finished it, so take that for what it's worth.
Then Martin asked us if we wanted a churro. We had zero room. We ordered it anyway. If that churro is any indication of what the full menu delivers, Frida is going to be a problem for us — in the best way.
We were back again for a quick stop a couple days later and Martin steered us toward the arroz con pollo. It's not on the menu yet, but we're betting it becomes a staple. The rice was perfectly sticky, the chicken was dialed in, and a splash of hot sauce took the whole thing somewhere unexpected. Some dishes just work from the first bite. This is one of them. Don't be afraid to ask.
We love Latin cuisine and this place has serious energy. A full dinner review is coming. We're going back with empty stomachs and high expectations. For now, it's Worth the Trip because that's exactly what we're going to do very soon.
