Official Curated Review
Glad it's there. Not a place we go out of our way for, but one we're happy to return to when we're in the area. Solid, dependable, and worth stopping into without hesitation if you're nearby.
Crewitt's Creek leans hard into the modern sports bar formula — and mostly makes it work.
The Vibe
The bar wraps the center of the room with screens above every sightline. The dining area runs blue and loud — UK flags, Bengals neon, FC Cincinnati signage, checkerboard tablecloths, and a digital jukebox keeping things moving between quarters. It's lively without being chaotic. The cast iron skillets and dark wood give it a casual warmth that keeps it from feeling like a generic sports chain. This is somebody's bar. You feel that.
The Food
We started with shareables. The G.O.A.T. Balls — house-made meatballs in marinara, goat cheese crumbled heavy across the top, grilled crostini around the edge of the skillet — looked better than they delivered. The meatballs lacked the depth you want from something labeled house-made, and the goat cheese is going to split the table every time. The Animal Spuds recovered the situation. Fried potato wedges layered with slow-roasted pork, spicy BBQ sauce, and cheddarjack melted into the whole thing in a hot cast iron skillet. Not something you're thinking about days later, but absolutely something you keep picking at until it's gone — which is its own endorsement.
The N'Awlins Cajun Pasta was the best plate on the table. Fettuccine cooked al dente — which matters and doesn't always happen at places like this — tossed in a creole cream sauce that brought the right amount of heat without steamrolling the andouille and shrimp. The sausage had a clean smoky bite, the shrimp were sized to make an impression, and the sauce clung to the pasta instead of pooling underneath it. This is the dish that earns a return visit.
The Joe Nuxhall sliders were solid. Good flavor overall, and the pickles stood out — tangy and doing exactly what they should. They came out a touch more done than preferred and there wasn't a temperature ask, but this isn't aiming to be that kind of precision spot.
The Grilled 3 Cheese Double Stack is a good example of where this menu leans into "more." The flavor is there — three cheeses, bacon, red onion — but the extra middle slice of bread feels like a gimmick that adds bulk more than value. Strip that out and you've got a genuinely strong grilled cheese. As-is, it's still good, just heavier than it needs to be.
The fries slipped. Asked for a firm golden brown and got soft. Not limp — but not what was asked for either. On a menu where nearly every plate comes with fries, this matters more than it would otherwise.
One notable absence: no traditional bone-in wings. For a sports bar operating at this level, that's a gap. They've got boneless — but let's call it what it is. That's a different conversation for a different day, but it's a miss for the format.
The Bottom Line
There are flashes here — especially with the Cajun pasta — that show what this kitchen can do. The atmosphere does real work, and there's enough across the menu to justify coming back and trying something else. The mac and cheese they're known for is next on the list (and we here from locals the brunch is definitely a standout meal.)
We're not making a destination trip for dinner, but if you're in Independence and hungry, it'll take care of you.
